In a Brooklyn uniform, Koufax lacked control (very similar to another New York pitcher....Nolan Ryan).
As you know, Koufax settled into his stride, in the "hot California sun". As, a kid I was quite intrigued
by his "uncoiling" type of pitching motion, and I had a feeling that he would eventually be a very
effective Southpaw pitcher. And, he is a true gentleman in person.

Incidently Jeff, I value your opinion.....did you get a chance to read my 1949 LEAF BB article ?
