Both teams got bats, one displaying World Series Champions the other is American/National Champions. So each team did actually win something, they won their respective league for that season.
From my understanding they were made for not only players and coaches but some team officials also. They were made from 1934 through 1998. Great piece for the team or player collector, I love mine, they are beautiful in hand.
