Too me, as a collector, the pencil mark that was done by another collector from an earlier time, providing that it is not across the face, can be part of the attraction and charm of the card.
It's a connection from one collector to another.

If we didn't have the 15 cents, or 25 cents pencilled on the cards, how else would Dave get his prices from that period?
