I collect Old Judge cards of Washington players. Many years ago (10-15?) a reputable (I think) dealer at a show (possibly Ft. Washington) had a group of these for sale. I knew they weren't real OJs, but I decided to buy the Washington players he had anyway, thinking that they were likely to be vintage repros, for not too much $$.

I recall asking an OJ collector whom I can't remember (Jay M.?) about them some years ago. Unfortunately, my early-Alzheimers-like memory doesn't remember what he told me.

So, my question is, can anyone enlighten me as to the origin of these? And, is anything known about Jos. R. Royer, the Lancaster, PA, confectioner whose name and address is stamped on the backs of some of my cards (same back stamp as the one on eBay)?

Thanks in advance,
Val
