John SI truly believed that the Thorpe would fetch between 80-100K. As others have mentioned condition with a card this rare is not much of a factor relative to the hammer price.
The large lots discouraged heavy bidding. I got close on one but was way off on a few others. Lot sizes between 3 and 5 would have been great. Hopefully a few will come up on eBay.
