MarkDan, those are some beautiful programs. I just love the creativity and artistry from the 1950s... such an imaginitive "golden" era for baseball memorabilia.
It's amazing how many versions of the Cardinal mascot exist.. and all are very cool in their own right. The Reds Mascot (Mr. Red) was so much more handsome in the '50s/'60s as well. Then, in 1969, they took away his mustache and turned him into a generic, mass-produced figure... always seen in the same exact pitching pose.
That mustache must have really offended someone in the front office... why they felt the need to "sterilize" their beloved mascot is beyond me. Not just the Reds either... all teams' logos and mascots became void of imagination by the '70s. I guess that's why so many of us are in love with the old stuff!
