I know you have followed all (or most of) the threads regarding the Joe Doyle front variations these past 5 years, so I need not reprise them here.
And, your suggestion of starting another thread to continue discussing this subject is well taken.

Besides American Litho's (ALC) fast correction of the Doyle "Nat'l" card (when issued in the initial press runs of the PIEDMONT 350 cards), I think Joe's
career ending June 25, 1910 most likely had something to do with the "printing issues" that you are referring to.....and, the difficulty with some of it's
T206 backs.

It's also interesting to note that (ALC) had intended to extend Joe Doyle's card into the 460 series (as is evident by this card's apple green SOVEREIGN
back).

As you have alluded to, this is quite a mysterious card.
