1948 St. Paul Saints Junior World Series Team Signed Baseball – 22 Signatures

This baseball originates from a local family collection, in which the father was with the team from 1943-1951 as an Assistant Trainer under Al Schuneman. The baseball has aged nicely over the past 71 years. Signatures remain very bold, and the ball in still great condition. All players on the active 48’ JWS Roster are represented on this baseball, with the expectation of manager Walter Alston. HOFer Roy Campanella unfortunately is also not represented on the baseball as he only played 35 games for the Saints that season between May and June and was back in the Brooklyn Dodgers lineup by July 2. One notable signature on the baseball is Dan Bankhead. Bankhead on August 26th, 1947 became the first African-American to pitch in a Major League Baseball game for the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Players: Bob Addis, Andy Anderson, Toby Atwell, Dan Bankhead, Al Brancato, Slick Coffman, John Douglas, George Fallon, Phil Haugstad, Buddy Hicks, Mel Himes, Spider Jorgenson, Morrie Martin, Pat McClothin, Earl Naylor, Jack Paepke, David Pluss, Bob Ramazzotti, Jim Romano, Charles Samaklis, Eric Tipton, Harry Taylor.
