Thanks for the note about kids. I do run kid friendly shows and usually let them in for free (not that $1 is a big deal). The only times I ever advise the parents to pay for the kids is
1) On the days when I have had free autograph guests. I suggest the $1 so they can get an auto and meet the player. Not that I have brought in a player for a while but that's one of the two occasions.
2) The other occasion is when I run door prize tickets for shopping sprees. When I do that I give the parents the option of letting the kids in for free or getting them a ticket for the spree. That seems to be an acceptable compromise for all concerned.
I know we are also kid friendly at our synagogue show
