I departed from my set-building ways in 2017 and tried to pick up Clemente, Aaron and Mays cards from when they were active players (not post-career tribute cards, etc.) and made substantial progress. Still need an Aaron rookie and pre-1954 Topps and Bowman Mays cards, but don't anticipate adding these unless I win the lottery, which I never play.
I also plan to return to my comfort zone in 2018 and work on completing my 1958 Topps set. I need about 160 cards but already have most of the key cards.
If I finish 1958, my next target is 1959 Topps, where I probably need 250-300 cards, including both Mantles, the Gibson rookie and other high-value cards. If I knock out 1958 and 1959 I'll have a complete run of Topps sets from 1956 through the 1990s.
