I think you answered your own question: Probably 10 or so of each player.
What I find extra interesting about this issue, is the collecting "theory" behind them. It seems, to me, that they are the "ultimate" type card: Collectors are just happy to with ONE. I really can't imagine (and anyone correct me) that there is another issue where more poeple have one (or two/three) card(s), than less people having "groups" or complete sets. As stated, probably due to scarcity and historical significance.
Oh, and I'm happy with mine ............
