I'm not really sure I care. They were given an option, and they took the one they wanted. I'm thankful they had an option; the alternative is communism. My only request when talking about "draft dodgers" is that they aren't heralded or labeled as "heroes". Like heroes, Ruth and other athlete draft dodgers wore uniforms. Unlike heroes, their uniforms weren't a symbol of protection of this great country. Otherwise, I respect their decision to stay back and play ball. I'm sure the entertainment they provided here helped some people get through the difficult times of the war.

To me, the only heroes in this world are selfless military personnel that choose protecting this country over any personal gain. My hero is Chris Kyle for that exact reason.

Also, as mentioned above, it makes you respect guys like Bob Feller, Ted Williams, Warren Spahn, etc., that much more. God Bless our current and former military members, and God Bless America.
