anthonychad, it didnt take long for me to use the "automated shipping center" they have now...it saves a ton of time and limits the amount of time you spend with an actual employee...you can do pretty much anything with packages that are smaller than a microwave, including insurance, delivery confirmation, etc...the downfalls are that you have to use a credit card or atm card (some dont like to) and that you can only purchase up to $500 in insurance. i end up using it about 85% of the time...
the other thing is that you can put in your listings something like "shipping only twice a week" or "items ship on wednesdays only"...this way the buyer cant complain that you havent sent their item yet.
(i recently bought a coffee table and the seller stated that she ships on wednesdays only and in order to be shipped that day, you had to pay by the sunday before...)
