That's exactly what modern collecting has become: lottery scratch-off tickets. Chasing "limited" autos" and other manufactured "rarities" that are only rare because some number-stamp says they are. By the time Mike Trout is 60, he will make Pete Rose seem like a lazy signer. Having have said that, it's good that the industry is still thriving amongst young collectors, and it is nice to collect modern players you can root for. I used to watch Griffey and Frank Thomas' box scores like the NASDAC.
