What I’ve done, with success, is to place a piece of wood shelving cut to about 9”x12” underneath the jersey and stretch it tight with my hands while the athlete signs it, assuming the signing will be done at a show or other controlled environment. Haven’t had any issues doing it that way. That way the fabric is tight and it’s a hard surface they’re signing on directly below the fabric.
