Default 2nd July Pick Up Thread

Posted By: CarltonHendricks

Keith, Nice pickups...I don't know that much about photos, but I especially like imperials. It seems like that's the first imperial I've seen that wasn't mounted on a board, usually grey I guess. What are the dimensions? So do you have that book: History of Athletics at Princton? It's one I've been looking for, but it seems to always go for pretty good dough...I'm looking to steal one for $100 though.

Below is another outside the box pick up...a bronzed track shoe with a plaque that says "Shoe Worn By Carl McBain In Tying The American Record In 400 Meter Hurdles 51.6" In this wikipedia link it references a Bob Tisdall who had the world record of 51.7 seconds in 1932, which is a 10th of a second from a tye: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/400_metres_hurdles , Paid another whopping $9.99 on eBay....was the only bidder...I think McBain went to U.C.L.A.
