On June 13 1948, I was 17 years old and sitting in the right field bleachers.
A sad day indeed, his voice was gravelly, and hard to understand.
When he started to speak, you could almost hear a pin drop in the packed stadium.
The cancer in his throat, was taking it's toll, and we were there not just to pay our respect, but to thank him for building the house that Ruth built.
