When McCarver first began calling Mets games he was one of the most respected broadcasters in baseball. Over the years his reputation has clearly taken a hit. Don't know why. He is certainly knowledgeable, but he seems to rub people the wrong way. Must be those low balls. Maybe he should switch from boxers to briefs.
