Default Pronunciation of Lajoie..?

Posted By: E, Daniel

Reading that his parents were french canadian, I was wondering....
Looking at his countenance and physical features, coupled with the name, I'd always assumed his heritage to perhaps have been Native American - hence my pronounciatioin of "La-ho-ee". Anyone know anything further about his parentage, and if they were originally European or from the North American continent?

Having taken some French at school (), it also does not seem to be a natural pronounciation of the name...indeed I'm not sure I've heard a J pronounced anything other than the Je sound I initally mentioned. The name to me would be said reasonable phonetically if spoken with a French intonation..?
