Here is another 46-47 Harridge ball with a similar Ruth. This ball has more signatures, including a couple of faded ones made with a different pen.

This particular type of Ruth signature has always bothered me, partly because the odd 'R' often comes with a skinny 'b' and sometimes a skinny 'a'. Was it a new signature that Ruth came up with late in life? Maybe I will go dig around and try to find a 'definitely real' Ruth from 1946 or 1947 to compare with.
