It's probably just the collector's stamp. Many of us have come across old cards with personal stamps on the back.

Many news service photos have date stamps on the back, sometimes multiple stamps from different dates (sometimes years apart). The stamp was used to either date the creation, as part of filing/cataloging, or during printing if the the photo was used to make a picture in/on a publication or commercial product ... Conceivably, the date stamping could indicate that a card was some sort of production or file sample.
