Noble cause - I'd like to help, but we already do our part here on the opposite coast. In addition to only owning rescue dogs, we often have a 3rd (or 4th) dog around that we are fostering through local rescue organizations.

We host foster dogs until they are adopted. This keeps them out of shelters and safe, and also makes room behind them in the shelter they were taken out of.

It can be sad seeing some of them go after a while - although some have been adopted within a day or two, some we have had for 4-6 weeks and you can get quite attached. It can be a lot of work but we know we have saved and placed a lot of dogs over the past 10 years that otherwise may not have had a chance. It is really rewarding when some of the owners send up updates years later.

I would encourage anyone who is able to foster dogs for their local rescue if/when needed.
