Default Reminds me of a photo in my collection

Richard – thanks for sharing this article.

It reminded me of a photo I have in my collection of Hank Aaron at an Old Timers Game in Atlanta. The photo is dated August 1, 1970 and it shows Hank with Doc Cook – tabbed as "the oldest living Yankee" at the time. Doc would have been 84 in this photo and died in 1973 at the age of 87. I have no idea why he's in a Braves uniform and not a Yankees uniform, as he never played for the Braves. He was from Tennessee, so I'm guessing it was relatively easy to get him to Atlanta.

But what really caught my eye was the two gentlemen standing down the left-field foul line: the mischievous-looking, and recently-retired, Mickey Mantle, along with who I believe to be Roger Maris. Both Mick and Roger had retired after the ’68 season and apparently had plenty of time on their hands by 1970.

I have attached a scan of the original photo, with an blow up of the two background subjects.
