As far as I am aware this is the first time Jefferson Burdick wrote about cigarette cards. This article is from the venerable and popular magazine, Hobbies- December, 1935. It was written approximately 4 yrs before the predecessor to the American Card Catalog, the US Trade Card Collectors Catalog, was written by him. Burdick, near the end of this writing, is contemplating doing a catalog to help collectors with a numbering system etc.. I hope folks interested in the history of our hobby will enjoy this glimpse into the beginnings of the organized hobby as we know it today, as much as I did. Thanks too, to George Vrechek's work in this area of studying the hobby. Much of what I have learned has been from his work on the subject.
