Matty, who gave his life that others might live...and my Uncle Miltie, who died on Leite, 1944, and used to spin around on his head...a good old southern boy, whom I hardly even knew.

And especially, Britt Peter, whose victory before the Supreme Court made it possible for those who were not brought up as pacifists, or even believed in God, to be recognized as Consciencious Objectors.
