I know that your actual question was about why the seller might do what he does - no comment on that - but, you might eliminate some of your frustration my negating some keyword in your search to filter out his stuff - just include the string -UNLOCKED (note the leading hyphen or minus sign) along with the rest of your search arguments and it will not show any auctions that contain the word UNLOCKED in the title. hth...
