Well Murph...
If I make a comment on the seventh page of a thread, regarding the posting of a nice piece and story that a fellow member (for example, I'll use perezfan) had posted from the second page, how is anyone going to know what I, or anyone else for that matter, would be referring to without using the quote feature?
Of course the longer a thread goes, (it's now more frequent that threads go for several days or more) the more confusing it would be for everyone involved, if no one used the quote feature.
On another note, it's also the only way to hold someone to their word. So in my opinion, the board would be near chaotic without it.
