1) It's a huge set. Only other pre-war set in the same size category is OJ's, and they aren't lithos and they are more costly
2) Litho quality - most sets, even medium-size, are of poorer quality. Only T205's compare, and they don't have near the action poses, and the set is small
3) No black and white competition. Even if I liked B&W cards, the pre-war sets are pretty ugly for the most part.
4) It's a great era, and this is the most comprehensive set from the era.
