Love those Mudhens . . .
.
. . . a bit OT, but I really enjoyed the five or six years I had season tickets (1992-1996) for the Mudhens. Where else could a nobody get front row seats, right behind the third base dugout. Only in minor league baseball. Only made it to half the home games, but the organization had a great arrangement where I could donate the unused tickets to the local Big Brothers, Big Sisters organizations. The thank you letters from the kids (forwarded by the team) were much appreciated.
I still have a vivid memory of from a 1993 game, watching an opposing batter with the Charlotte Knights hit the ball so hard in each of three at bats, that I swore he would kill someone before that game was over. Intentionally walked his fourth at bat. A sigh of relief by Mudhen fans. Said out loud, to no one in particular, that kid would someday be a major leaguer. 600 major league home runs later, he still is.
