Given how M116 was packaged and distributed, you have a number of really fine condition ones that were preserved over time. So, you end up with a skewed distribution of conditions. In short, the fact that there are so many fine condition ones out there makes it a little less interesting to collect.

How'd it stay nice over the last 100 years?

Well, up until recently, it was well preserved in the flat envelope that it came in.

These are not the same stories that people tell about their tobacco and caramel cards.
