Joann- when you make a claim the shipper has to handle it. Generally you need to bring a letter from the buyer or a copy of the invoice to the post office along with some paperwork that they give you.

And I send all high end items USPS, via registered mail, and have never had one lost in 25 years. And I'm talking a few thousand packages.
