Default J. C. Romero

I think the players collectively vote on who gets a share, or a partial share, of playoff money. I think that the club hands out championship rings, and I don't think Boston would have given Romero one since he was gone... For someone who went down with an injury in August, maybe so, but not someone traded away.

Hub Perdue, a southern leager in the white border tobacco card set, was with the Boston Braves at the beginning of 1914. On June 28th he was traded to the Cardinals for Possum Whitted and Ted Cather.

At the end of June the Braves were in last place. Hub had been in 9 games, was 2-5 with 2 complete games. Dawn of July 19th found the Braves in last place, with a 33-43 record, 15 1/2 games behind the Giants. The Braves took a double header from the Reds that day, to edge out of last place. The kept winning. They had a stretch of 67 games where they won 51 of them. The past the Giants in September. They held on to win. And the Braves beat Mr. Mack's A's in the World Series.

Hub Perdue was always a bit upset that George Stallings had sent him packing to St. Louis... Hub's 2 Cracker Jack cards have identical images, but different captions, reflecting the trade. Boston didn't cut him in for a share, a ring... nothing.
