I recall driving into D.C. from my home in Falls Church, listening to the radio account of the tragedy in New York. Shortly after arriving at my office on Capitol Hill the Pentagon was hit. I could see the smoke from my window as I watched the tv news. I remember walking outside and looking up at the Capitol Dome wondering whether it would be the next target. I drove home in the ensuing traffic jam.
I suspect this will stick with me like the Kennedy assassination, which I learned about while walking between classes with my girlfriend in the 10th grade.
