Default $5000 to invest in T206 2 common 8's or beater rarity

If you are trying to make a buck, I have no idea--the problem is that you have to factor in 3 great unknowns--card doctoring, untapped populations of high grade cards, and the very thin market for high grade prewar cards--which cannot be appropriately analyzed. My view is always to take the rarity. Anyone putting together a set in any grade has to have one, regardless of grade, so it will always be in demand. I've never kicked myself for passing over a high grade common card but I still regret missing certain rarities when I had the chance to pull the trigger. My New Rule after a few of those near misses is to go for it on all of those cards when I see them and can afford them. To me, the so-called condition rarities are speculative investments, while the rarities are the blue chippers.
