Default For the true Cono-Sewer: What do you look for in a Beater?

Posted By: Andy

I'm of the same school as Ben. I enjoy creases and paperloss, banged up corners and just ugly cards. I prefer to be able to see the image fairly well and not have too much paperloss of the front, but the back is much less important to me.

My budget has helped forge this attitude as I can afford to get some HOFers that are beat to death, or trimmed. If they were in better shape I wouldn't be able to own them and enjoy them.

My feelings on trimming are that it's fine with me if it's obvious and not meant to fool someone. Hey, some people used to cut the borders off their cards, and if that lets me acquire an otherwise expensive card then I thank them.

Bottom line, if it's an authentic card and I can afford it, then it's pretty tough to find a reason to exclude it from my (slowly) growing collection.

Thanks
