Has anyone noticed that the Yankees magic number is 3 -- kudos to Joe Torre on what might be his best managing job in NY this year. No Sheffield. No Matsui, Pay-Rod playing like a dog; yet the Yankees easily won the division.

Now -- that is really good news for the hobby -- as anything that brings up the legends of Babe, Lou, Joe D., etc. bring back the love for the revered Hall of Famers. See, I can bring up vintage names too in a modern baseball post.

Oh did I mention how the Red Sux imploded this year.
