If they don't sell, they are saying they'd prefer to have the card rather than have the cash.

Although I am saying they are buying the cards over and over again, they are not taking the funds out of their pockets to pay for the card, but they are using the funds that the card could have gotten to repurchase the card.

The bottomline is this:
when an old-timer has a card that could be worth 3K in his pocket decides not to sell it, then he is taking the card over the cash.

when new money buys a card and takes 3K out of his pocket to buy it, then he is taking the card over the cash.

Both people are taking the card over the cash in both cases. In my mind, that's the same thing.
