Default Any House of David collectors here?

Posted By: RobertS

Established as a religious sect in Benton Harbor, Michigan (and often misidentified as a Jewish group), The House of David formed a baseball team in 1913 and began playing seriously in 1915, eventually barnstorming around the country in the 1920s and 1930s to earn money and prosletyze.

The team became so popular that at one point or another HOFers Chief Bender and Grover Cleveland Alexander either played for against the team, and Babe Ruth was photographed yanking on the beard of a HOD player.

Two of the postcards showcased here are Real-Photo cards, while the other two are printed cards. All four were issued by the team and sold to tourists:

You can also check out this Web Site and related book from the HOUSE OF DAVID BASEBALL TEAM RESEARCH PROJECT: http://www.peppergame.com/

I have no involvement with the book or its authors. I thought you might find it useful, as it explains about the group and how it broke into competing teams...
