Chuck RJay and Adam: Well, you're probably right about Indian Gum. I guess I just threw that out as it had a parallel baseball counterpart. It does have beautiful color, but the artwork itself is, as you said, not that great. A better example of a set with really nice artwork from the 30's would be something like True Spy Stories.
By the way, I didn't mean in my post to knock baseball card artwork in general. It's hard to beat the artwork on things like the Turkey Reds. The point I was trying to make was that I personally find the huge baseball card sets based on photos to get tiresome after a while.
