Default A very cool website . . .

While browsing through some links on this site, I visited, for the first time, a very cool and complete boxscore resource. Many here may already be familiar with this site, Retrosheet, as it has close ties to SABR and is an excellent online resource.

It only takes a couple clicks to gain access to a full year worth of box scores of your favorite team(s). I copied (simple copy / paste) all eight 1887 National League teams (scores, starting pitchers, etc.) into an Excel spreadsheet and played with the data this weekend. The graph below shows the 1887 National League Championship race.

Look at that Philadelphia charge at the end of the season (they didn't lose a single game during their last 17 contests). A couple teams kept Detroit honest throughout the season. It was an interesting resource for me, I'm sure I'll be spending more time there.
