Rob D.A way that I've displayed press pins that works very well (at least in my opinion) is to buy the small cubes that are designed to display golf balls (just like the bigger ones that display baseballs).
Then cut a simple piece of cardboard into a small square that will rest at an angle, corners to corners, inside the cube. Cover the cardboard with whatever color felt (or any material, really) you want, and then stick the pin through the center of the cardboard. Lay the cardboard at an angle inside one half of the cube, and put the cube together. The pin displays at an angle that's easy to see, and these cubes are meant to be stacked, so the displays you can make are pretty impressive. Plus the cubes are pretty cheap and super durable.
