Brock G.Those type of tie hangers are very commonly found on tie racks from that period. I have another baseball tie rack made in the 50's that have very similiar hangers (with some missing actually). They are a little larger though and I dont think they would fit the J.R. rack. You could probably definetely find replacement hangers but it might take some trial and error to find the right size. For all I know the ones on there may be relacements.
It is not made of chalkware but actually a hard fiberboard material. Seems to be a very durable material.
