You mean at the end of the barrel? That isn't a valid way to date a bat is it? I've seen bats from the late 1930s that still had "trademark" on them and bats from the early 1930s that already had "genuine" stamped on them, although they appear to have phased "trademark" out by 1940. Bats are usually dated by the oval trademark and slogan. Provide detailed photos of the bat and it can be dated.
