Please feel free to refer all your Canadian friends to me when they are faced with a notice of ascertained forfeiture or a criminal charge on the importation with a false value. My fee will be cheap in comparison to the consequences, but my rate is $400C per hour, plus GST and PST --no exceptions.

I can only tell you that the Canadian Border Service Agency (customs, or the Canadian BS Agency , as we call it) does do internet searchs in order to obtain comparable market values. It's always interesting what and who they'll find when they type in "N172" for example.
