Default Extrodinary Find of Old Judge Baseball Cards!!

Posted By: David Levin

I wanted to share this with the board members. A very significant find in the hobby! Over 1,000 cards found that were in the possession of the Daughter, age 93, of the original owner. The collection was put together in the Washington DC. area. I am guessing that since the original owner was born in 1877, that would make him nine when these started to be issued, he may very well have collected many of them as a child. The family moved to Fresno California in 1911 when the daughter was only six month old, and it is believed that he did not collect after that. His son in law sold off some of the cards in the early 70s to a San Diego area dealer, supposedly only duplicates, but, it was about $2,000 worth of them, so it must have been a significant amount of cards. He passed away in 1981, and they have been sitting in storage since then. There are many rarities, many previously unknown poses, and tough teams, or team changes in with the group.
About the only thing not present were the dotted ties, minis, and California League cards.

You are welcome to view the collection, the cards are all scanned up at the site, with just a minimal amount of duplicates having been scanned, there are about 1,125 card images up.

It is simply a collection of cards that defies description.

Have a look, and enjoy

David
