He died when I was 4 so I have few memories of him but I do recall that he used to do sleight of hand magic tricks with a lit cigar and that he took me with him once on his beat (he was in law enforcement), which was meatpacking district. I recall getting a hot dog fresh off the line at one of them. He was a fantastic grandfather. I wish I'd gotten to spend more years with him. So this photo was quite the find for me.
