I'm really stoked to have added this circa 1930's 36" Ernie Lombardi H & B "Blue Streak" bat to my Vander Meer "double no-hit" collection.
"The Schnozz" was Vandy's catcher for both of his back-to-back no-hitters on June 11th and June 15th, 1938.
This bat will be a nice complimentary piece and will join two Vandy model bats that I have in my collection.
Can any of our resident bat experts share what they know about this particular Lombardi model bat being called a "Blue Streak"? I'm guessing it's because Lombardi could hit up a blue streak (career .300 hitter, but arguably the slowest runner in baseball history), but I am curious. Any help that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated!
