I will first of all start by saying that I didn't know about this thread until this morning. Back a few weeks ago, I stumbled across the 1984 audio book biography of Ty Cobb by Charles Alexander. I thought it was interesting and it reaffirmed the idea that Cobb was a great ball player, but a terrible person for the most part.
After listening to that audio book, I started looking up Cobb videos on YouTube. I stumbled across Charles Leehrsen and discovered his book A Terrible Beauty. I ordered the audio book and just finished it last night.
A terrible beauty needs to be read (or listened to) by every baseball fan. It is a fantastic book. It really saddens me that Cobb is falsely made out to be such a monster. I'm glad Leehrsen set the record straight. This book has made me a Cobb fan. I don't have any of his cards, but I am wanting one really bad.
