As a lifelong Angels fan, from their early 60's LA days, I remember Dave Henderson's 9th inning 2-out 2-strike homerun off Donnie Moore in the 1986 AL Championship Series as if it was yesterday. The Angels were one strike away from going to their first World Series. The anticipation was palpable, and the win seemed all but assured. Then.......the homerun. The Angels never recovered, and the Red Sox and Bill Buckner went on to lose to the Mets. BTW, Donnie Moore was an exceptional reliever/closer but was never the same after that devastating loss. The rest is the very tragic story of Donnie Moore. I couldn't even watch the replay for years. But, as time went on I could watch the replay and actually enjoy the pure thrill exhibited by Dave Henderson as he rounded the bases. RIP Dave.
