Right - I actually read a pretty good article somewhere (or saw it on TV ... can't remember which) where a reporter basically went around to a bunch of these storage locker things to check out the 'finds'. Most of it consisted of what you'd expect - old kids bikes, 20-year old microwaves, old clothes, etc.
Same with pawn shops - your typical store isn't likely to have the same vintage card inventory that Rick does ... mostly just jewelry and guns.
Makes for interesting TV if you just watch it as pure fiction since it mostly is.
